Triduum

The celebration of the Triduum is really one celebration in three days that consist of Holy Thusday, Good Friday, And the Vigil of Easter. The events of all liturgies are not merely to help is remember in the contemporary sense. The are to make present the reality of God's accomplishment so that we may enter into the mystery, so that we are actually and very really present to the events and realities. To really celebrate these moments, one must be present to all three parts of the Triduum.

Jesus was a Jew. there is no mistake about that. When He said "do this in memory of me" He was using the word memory in the Hebrew sense. Memory does not mean to "look back on the past." It means to make the reality present.

Even though we set aside these days to emphasize the historical events of the Paschal Mystery, we must remember that all of this is present at every mass, at every liturgical celebration. It is "the stuff" of which we are made when we live the mystery through our baptismal walk.

Here, we will start our journey before the Triduum. We will start on Palm Sunday as we do with our liturgical season to prepare for the meditations of the events to come.
