Yes,
I know the attitude. I actually have a family member who worships Rush
Limbaugh while at the same time professing faith in Catholicism. This same
person can't decipher the difference between charity and socialism and
gives conservativeism a bad name. Oh yes, There are the others in
my family too.. They are the ones who say they want to help the poor as
they vote for the destruction of the poorest of the poor, the unborn, in
our elections. Extremes are always bad. That's why I don't believe in "parties."
We have to politicize everything to make "the other guy" look bad. and
now, we're going to politicize immigration.
Sometimes
I wonder if all would agree with border protests. Yes, when Jewish
people were escaping from the Nazis and entering into other countries illegally,
by some people's logic, they should have been stopped and sent back.
The
mistake is that we make in this country is generalizing and making blanket
statements. We're dealing with two different groups of people.
On
the other hand, as I've said to so many, “Why didn't these protesters do
it there?” “Why are they protesting us?” If they love Mexico so much to
wave Mexican flags here, why don't they go back and free their own lands
from a corrupt government?” As far as I'm concerned, those people are just
plain cowards. They do not belong here.
But
for those who need food, clothing and shelter, I say, “Come on!” “Work
here!” At least I'll know that you're actually getting the money
and participating by working for it rather than merely having it sent to
your country for politicians to eat up... never seeing a penny for yourselves.
We send billions to the poor in other countries that never see it!
Why
do I say this? It's because I've seen what happens when Americans try to
bring food and clothing over the borders for those who live in cardboard
boxes in Mexico. I know what it's like to be told that you can't bring
clothes into Mexico because it “hurts our textile industry,.” or some other
flimsy excuse. (As if these people ever had enough money to purchase clothes.)
Do
we like seeing our money going to these countries and never reaching the
poor that it's supposed to help? Do we think that people who are oppressed
have to stay and take it? Would you, if it were your family? THOSE are
the ones who we want to help. Those are the ones who appreciate this country.
The
ones who protest this country and wave other flags are truly cowards. They
are the ones who should be sent back to the country that they think is
so great. Let them protest there. They should have in the first place if
they are really sincere. Let those who back them go there too. See how
far their protesting gets them. Let them wave and American flag in those
countries while they do it. Let's see how brave and sincere they are!
So,
please... be honest. Don't make blanket statements about all immigrants,
legal or illegal. It's the Mexican government and aristocracy that needs
sanctions against it, not its refugees, not its poor, not its homeless,
and not its hungry. Those who really appreciate freedom will always protect
it, no matter where they are from. They should always be welcomed.
